Presentation: Located on the island of Montreal, the nature park of Cap-Saint-Jacques offers visitors a natural sandy beach, nestled in a bay surrounded by a rich natural environment. Nearby, the Château Gohier and the remains of an old fieldstone foundation (built in 1916) provide a charming setting for discovering the rudiments of archaeology.

Simulated archaeological dig with Archéophone:
Using an archaeologist’s tools, try your hand at finding prehistoric and historic objects and locating them on site plans.
Make your own fossile replica:
Using moulds, create fun replicas of fossils while learning about their origins and characteristics. This activity highlights differences between archaeology and palaeontology.
Lost bones:
Different bones need to be identified. They all seem to be part of the skeleton of some species that lived in the Ice age. Your sense of observation will be put to the test!
Broken jars:
(For fledgling archaeologists) Pieces of pottery are hidden in the sand and young archeologists must uncover them, classify them and reconstruct the fragmented vessels.
Life under a rock:
The great archaeologists of this world must come face to face with critters living underground. GUEPE (a group of naturalist educators and environmental professionals) will be on hand to teach you all the secrets of life under a rock.
