Presentation: The Île Lebel Park, in the very heart of the city, is a 15-hectare haven of peace along the St. Lawrence River. With its picnic areas and walking paths, the park is an ideal place to relax or observe wildlife. A seasonal tourist information bureau is located in the park.

Activity 1: Simulated dig and a thematic trail about the Iroquois

Description: Bring your family to the regional park on Île Lebel and take part in a simulated dig that lets you uncover Amerindian objects from prehistoric times. A reconstructed Iroquois encampment, research tools and ancient artifacts await you. An archaeologist and animator will be on hand to present this marvellous universe to both young and old. The park also has a thematic trail entitled “The Water Route” that lets you discover the lifestyle of the Iroquoians as you walk.

Activity 2: Talk “Amerindians in the Repentigny region throughout the years and their relationship with the St. Lawrence River” with archaeologist Michel Gagné, B. Sc.

Description: You are invited to enjoy a talk given by archaeologist Michel Gagné. The talk, which is presented in conjunction with “The Water Route” walking trail in the Île Lebel park, will focus on Amerindians in the Repentigny region and their relationship with the St. Lawrence River. Emphasis will be placed on the Iroquoian period, with a brief introduction to the work undertaken by archaeologists.
