Presentation: The Friends of the Saint-Ours Canal is a not-for-profit organization that works, in collaboration with Parks Canada, to promote and present the Saint-Ours Canal National Historic Site of Canada. The association seeks to heighten public awareness of the canal’s rich heritage and to encourage interest in this idyllic site by organizing activities throughout the year.

Activity 1: If objects could talk

Description: Diane Lebrun, Parks Canada collections manager, will present various archaeological objects that tell us about daily life long ago. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the origins of common articles and their uses throughout history.

Activity 2: Fish as witnesses to history

Date: Sunday, August 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Activity length: Continuous
Admission fee: Included in the general admission fee

Description: Zooarchaeologist Marie-Ève Brodeur will explain how the environment influences aquatic life in the Richelieu River. Using the fish-pass as backdrop, Ms Brodeur will present the different species of fish found in the river and describe how human activity has affected their natural surroundings.
