Presentation: Founded 20 years ago, the Corporation Philippe-Aubert-de-Gaspé has been carrying out archaeological investigations on the Port Joli seigneurial domain. These excavations have improved our knowledge about the lifestyle of the rural bourgeoisie living in the St. Lawrence Valley during the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, the Corporation has reconstructed the old manor, which hosts the Museum of living memory.
Activity 1: Talk “The Archaeology of the South Shore, an Unknown Land?” with Louis-Philippe Picard and Richard Lavoie, archaeologists
Date: Sunday, August 9, 8 p.m.
Activity length: 1 hour 30 minutes
Admission fee: Free
Description: The historical limits of the South Shore extend from Pointe Lévis to Notre-Dame-du-Portage. This area remains little known to most archaeologists. Archaeologists Louis-Philippe Picard and Richard Lavoie will discuss this issue and present some of the recent discoveries they have made concerning this region.
Target clientele: Adults
