Presentation: Commission de la capitale nationale du Québec has three main missions: developing Quebec’s capital, promoting Quebec City as a seat of political power and advising the government on how to enhance the city’s status as a capital.
Activity: Tour of the Cartier-Roberval archaeological site
Dates: Friday to Sunday, every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Activity length: 1 hour
Admission fee: $5
Description: Guided tour of an active dig on the site of the first French colony in North America (1541–1543). The tour will cover the historic context of the Cartier-Roberval expedition, the circumstances leading to discovery of the site, the archaeological work to date, and the remains and artifacts uncovered.
